Coleman 4-in-1 Quickbed Reviews

After researching many of the other more expensive, self-inflating air beds, I decided to purchase the Coleman 4-in-1 Quickbed for overnight guests. It’s less than half the price of an average twin size Aero Bed and much more versatile as it can be configured as two twins, one king, or one double-height twin. You do need to buy a separate pump, but the Coleman pump is inexpensive and can be used for other inflating/deflating purposes (e.g., pool toys, vaccuum storage bags, etc.). Each mattress inflates and deflates in just a couple minutes, and it’s quite easy to roll it up for storage. It’s comfortable both as a single matress or double height. I ended up buying a second 4-in-1 Quickbed, so now I can accommodate up to 4 overnight guests for less than 0. I can’t vouch for how long it will last, but even if it sprung a leak after a couple years of periodic use, it would still be worth it at this low price.

I don’t normally review things, but this was such a good purchase that I can’t resist…
I recently moved about 400 miles and into a big city apartment. I didn’t have a lot of furniture, so it seemed kind of silly to rent a moving van just for a bed. Finally, after looking at a million different styles, I decided I’d try this inflatable bed. It’s compact, so I could just squeeze it into the car with the rest of the luggage. I wouldn’t have to fight to get a bed frame and mattress up the apartment stairs. Plus, I figured if I hated it, I could find a ‘real’ bed at some point.
I LOVE this bed. I’ve been sleeping on it every night for over 6 weeks and have never (yet) had to refill the air in it. Separating the twin beds is easy, and comes in handy when guests come visit.
One tiny tiny con… The very first time you lay on this bed, it is awkward and uncomfortable. I’m not gonna lie. However, after about 30 minutes, you get used to the ‘water bed’ feeling, and the whole bed feels insanely comfortable. It’s like it takes the bed (or the PVC material) 30 minutes or so to ‘relax’… Also, it did not come with a pump, so I had to buy one for 15.99. *shrugs*
I would never go back to a ‘regular’ bed. This bed can be an elevated twin bed, a king size, two twins, compacts down to about a 10 pound parcel with a carrying strap, is as comfortable as a spring mattress and cost me forty bucks.
Highly recommended.
*EDIT*– June 11th 2008. Still sleeping on the bed nightly, *still* working wonderfully! The ‘top’ mattress (when stacked) does need an occasional bit of air every few weeks, but no big deal.

2009 INTEX 66717E (66717) COMFORT-REST RISING COMFORT RAISED QUEEN AIR MATTRESS AIRBED BED W/ BUILT-IN AC AIR-PUMP Reviews

I have experience using/owning several airbeds and this is the best value for the quality of airbed this is.
Air pump and valve system: simply plug in, set valve to either inflate or deflate and let it do it’s thing. Directions are easy to follow and adjusting the comfort level using the valve is a snap (remember that the less air you use, the bouncier the bed will be).
Mattress design: The top edges are level with the bed and stable, eliminating the threat of slipping right off the bed onto the floor (being it’s a raised bed, it would be a longer drop). Sitting on the edge is comfortable as well.
Height: Perfect height for a person who is 5’4″. I pumped it up next to our couch and the mattress is just as tall as the seats are.
Comfort: I prefer to fill my air mattress to a firm feel so that the bed is more stable. This means when my husband rolls over in the middle of the night, I don’t bounce like a freighter on the high seas. This takes away from the comfort level in my mind since I love a cushy, soft mattress. I solved this by taking the 4″ memory foam topper off of my queen size bed and placed it on the airbed. It sat perfectly on top and with the top of the airbed having that felt/fuzzy-like surface it didn’t go anywhere. It felt heavenly.
Fitted Sheets: Well, I used a fitted sheet from my queen size bed and with the 4″ foam topper on the airbed it fit just a bit loosely, but well enough to hold on the indentations of the airbed’s sides. I like to have that tucked in feel so, I ended up just making the bed by tucking the bed sheets under the foam topper since it is heavy enough to hold it all together.
Storage: The directions explain in detail how the bed can be deflated thoroughly. It wasn’t much trouble at all and rolled up nicely into the bag that it came with.
Conclusion: This airbed really addresses many of the problems I’ve had with other air mattresses. I love it and feel comfortable offering it to my 60 year old parents to sleep on.
General: Given what’s on the market, my best advise is to search for quality and size of the mattress itself first, and definitely pay attention to the air pump/valve system. There are some high profile airbed products out there that are frustrating to use because of their pump/valve and can break very easily.
If your airbed is not as comfortable as you like, remember foam mattress toppers are a great solution. There are more expensive versions of this particular airbed that come with a foam topper attached, but I like the option to use a separate foam topper that I can have on my bed when the air bed isn’t in use

Prior to buying this air mattress I owned a Raised Coleman Queen. The Coleman had multiple circular indentations on the top that would quickly develop pinhole-size leaks. After repairing the second Coleman mattress for the fourth time, I went with the Intex.
The mattress included a built-in air pump and has a compartment for storing the electrical cord, which is approximately 6 feet long. The pump inflates the bed in a short amount of time. There is a dial that you can adjust during inflation to get the bed to your preference of firmness. There’s a setting for deflating the mattress, which sucks the air out of the mattress and allows for easier folding.
The mattress is comfortable and the flocked top holds the sheets well. Being a raised queen mattress, I correctly assumed deep pocket sheets would be a better fit. I’m not sure how regular queen sheets would perform–although it looks like the one star reviewer had a little trouble with them.
This mattress has held air for four months–I “topped-off” the air once. The long I-beam design does a better job of distributing the weight. Unlike Coleman, Intex has included several patches for the mattress should a leak develop.
Intex includes a duffle bag which allows you to easily store the folded mattress. The folded size inside the bag is about the dimensions of a small carry-on suitcase.
I’d recommend this air mattress to others.

Intex Pillow Rest Twin Airbed with Built-in Electric Pump Reviews

We did an extensive amount of research online for an air mattress that would be durable. This item, despite a handful of reviews (all with 5-stars), began to deflate immediately upon being inflated. Unfortunately, we didn’t test the mattress before the arrival of our house guest, unwittingly giving her the pleasure of seeing a night on the couch materialize right before her eyes.
Given that so many air mattresses seem to leak, we were partly prepared for a non-working mattress. But here is what we weren’t prepared for: the difficulty of recuperating our money after return shipping costs.
First of all, the matress comes inside a box that you will never, ever be able to re-insert the mattress into. Next comes return shipping costs that equal about 50% of the value of the mattress itself. The matress company suggested we cut up the mattress into smaller pieces to try and save on the shipping. We devised a better strategy: throw it in the trash and don’t look back.
Here’s our advice for anybody looking for an air matress: go to Sears and buy one. If it leaks, drive back and exchange it.

I live in a smallish one bedroom apartment and have frequent visits from out-of-town friends and relatives, so I have a pretty significant need for temporary beds. When set up, the temp bed is right in the middle of the living room, so I need to deflate and store a temporary air bed on a daily basis when guests visit. Unfortunately this is a nightmare endurance test for air beds as the frequent compression and folding of the unit for storage along with the periodic inflation and deflation is a formula for a shortened air bed lifespan.
There are two significant names in makers of at-home air beds: Aerobed and Intex. (Coleman seems to be targeted more for camping use and their beds by most accounts seem to be cheaper and less comfortable than these other two more residential brands.) Aerobed costs three to four times more than comparable Intex products, and it may not surprise you to hear that the Intex also offers significantly lower quality along with the lower cost.
This model, the Intex high-rise twin size (18″ high) appeared decent at first inspection. Unlike Aerobed, which insists that every sleeper must fit comfortably on a 74″ long mattress, the Intex is 80″ so taller sleepers or those who like their pillow under the top of their heads rather than under their necks will be more comfy.
Unfortunately this is the only advantage Intex has over Aerobed. The Intex feels mushier even at maximum inflation, so the “adjustable firmness” feature on the Inex is wasted unless you like sleeping in jello, as even maximum pressure inflation will be as soft as most users want.
The main problem with the Intex is that the motor to inflate it is inside the bed. Aerobed uses a detachable inflating motor. The problem with the Intex design is that the internal motor creates a hard inflexible lump in the interior of the bed, along with a sharpish rigid exterior plastic panel with the inflation control and electrical cord storage. As might be predicted, the Intex is almost impossible to fold into a compact bundle, and you will soon give up on attempting to stuff the folded bed back into its storage bag. At best you will end up with an untidy big lump, like a half full garbage bag, that needs to be stowed away in a corner or closet. Even worse, as you compress and fold the bed up, you are stretching, bruising, and maybe even tearing the internal and external lining of the mattress around the motor and the external control panel.
In my case, this contusing and abrasion of the mattress for storage resulted in a major air leak occurring after only maybe a dozen uses. Fortunately, this happened in the first three weeks of ownership, so I could easily get a refund as I bought the unit from Amazon. Intex itself has only a 90 day warranty on its products versus a 1 year warranty for Aerobed products.
The air leak in the Intex basically makes it un-useable as it loses most of its air after only three hours. The sleeper wakes up sinking into a plastic mush, and although you can of course always add air in the middle of the night, this does not make for restful sleep, as at the air loss rate of the leak here you would have to add air twice during the night in order to get 8 hrs of rest on a reasonably firm and supportive sleeping surface.
Though this review seems to be an endorsement of Aerobed, my experience with that brand has also been mixed. My original Aerobed twin size low (6″ height) is still alive and kicking after 5 years of frequent use, but a later Aerobed deluxe full size high riser (24″ off the floor) lasted only 15 months of light use before developing a leak. Moral of the story from my experience: if you want a durable air bed, especially one that can stand being deflated and stored frequently, get a low rise Aerobed. The higher rise models seem to be more inclined to spring leaks.
The other lesson here is that Intex beds are pretty junky. Looking at the reviews of this model on Amazon, 8 out of 28 reviewers (including me) report air leaks on this model. That’s about a 30% lemon rate, so buyer beware. Spending more on an Aerobed gets you a better warranty and also better design and build quality.
Even so, unless you plan to keep your air bed permanently inflated and set up, I would suggest getting some other temporary guest bed solution. The 74 inch max length of the Aerobed models is an annoyance, and the long term durability of these inflatable designs is very questionable where the product will be deflated and compressed for storage on a regular basis. Maybe an old-fashioned folding cot would be a better low-tech solution for many consumers in need of a frequently deployed and frequently stored temporary bed for guests…

The Coleman Queen-Sized Quickbed is a great choice for camping, overnight guests, or anywhere you need an extra bed. Intex Supreme Air-Flow Queen Airbed Nylon Flocked with Built-in Electric Pump Reviews

As an owner of several air mattress’ in the past, I feel that I speak from experience.
Often the bed is made of an inferior plastic that is too thin and will soon burst from the seams, or is constructed poorly which allows for instability.
This bed is neither.
It is sturdy enough for multiple persons to rest comfortably, allowing them to sleep without falling in a “valley” or slipping off when near the edge due to it’s multiple channel design.
Another nice feature not readily known or stated is that the bed has a channel all the way around between the two sections that allow you to actually tuck in a sheet, with a larger gap at the corners. A very nice feature that should be noted.
As with any air mattress, fill it until it is soft, not firm and let it sit for an hour before blowing it up to the desired firmness. This will allow the plastic to warm up and will prevent cracks and leaks. Second, DON’T OVER FILL the mattress, and thirdly, if you jump up and down on ANY air mattress like a trampoline, expect air leakage.
THE ONLY ISSUE I HAVE WITH THIS BED IS THIS:
The size is INCORRECTLY stated!
This bed does NOT conform to the measurements given (“Approx.” 80″ x 60″) and is correctly measured at 77″ x 56″, which conforms to a “Double” sized bed, not a “Queen” sized bed.
BEWARE!

If air beds got awards or ribbons, this bed would get the Gold. First off, the supplier is excellent with xtra-fast shipping! I’ve no complaints! Now, for the bed: I’ve slept on this air-bed for a month now and it is superb! I expected air leaks but there have been none! I have slept on the edge and in the middle (my preference) and there was no “bowing” or “lifting” as often found in other air beds. The bed stayed flat – I think this is due to its design. It’s as comfortable as you make it – comfort level can be adjusted, although I do think a hand-held remote would be easier to use. Still, it is the best of its kind! I’ve been sleeping on air beds for the past 13 years (different brands including Aerobed) and this one is outstanding. I highly reccommend this bed to any who may be searching for a temporary or even semi-permanent bed(no air bed lasts much over a year or two if used every night)! I plan to pick up a second one early next year just in case this model becomes hard to find in a year from now or the price jumps much higher. What really surprised me is that this bed is Intex. I’ve been highly critical of Intex in the past due to problems with their beds. It seems that, at least with this model, they finally got it right!

Intex Deluxe Pillow Rest Rising Comfort Twin
Deluxe Pillow Rest Bed includes built in pump. Adjust to any level of firmness with the touch of a button. Inflates in 2 minutes. Mattress top is raised 16-3/4″ from the floor for convenience.A deluxe version of Intex’s ever-popular Pillow Rest airbed, the Deluxe Pillow Rest adds a sturdier outer layer, making it even more stable and comfortable than the original. The Deluxe Pillow Rest is equipped with a quality-tested 21.2-gauge waterproof flocked top, along with 15-gauge vinyl beams, sides, and bottom. The resulting surface is snug and secure, whether you’re sleeping at the in-laws’ overcrowded house or setting up a guest bed in the basement. In addition, the Deluxe Pillow Rest is remarkably easy to inflate thanks to the built-in, high-powered electric pump, which does its job in just a few short minutes. No more fussing with tiring hand or foot pumps or rummaging through the garage for your detached electric pump. And should the mattress feel a little too soft or firm, you can customize the comfort level with the touch of a button. The Deluxe Pillow Rest is raised 19 inches from the floor, making it far taller than most inflatable mattresses, and includes a built-in pillow for added comfort. And at 80 by 40 inches (W x L), the mattress is an official twin size, making it a good fit for fitted sheets. The Deluxe Pillow Rest twin airbed–which offers a capacity of 300 pounds–comes with an AC power cord, a shoulder strap, and a duffel bag. It’s also backed by a 90-day limited warranty.
